EDITING
Are you looking for more than just an editor?
I work with writers not just to polish their manuscripts, but to help them understand why certain changes make their work stronger. That means detailed editorial letters, margin comments that guide rather than dictate, and a collaborative approach rooted in both my experience as an editor and my training in creative writing.
I’ve had the privilege of working with wonderful clients who’ve told me this kind of support was exactly what they needed: not just editing, but mentorship. If that sounds like what you’re looking for, I’d love to hear about your project.
Some of my experience includes: as Associate Editor at the literary magazine The Madrid Review, as in-house development editor at Modern Odyssey Books, as an editor at the large Spanish publisher, Santillana. I’ve also worked as a literary editor with publications such as Litro Magazine, Transnational Literature and as editorial intern at Creative Nonfiction magazine.

WRITING
A pen for hire!
As a writer, I have a large body of published work, including my debut story and essay collection, A Line Drawn or Printed: Six Routes Through Madrid, published in June 2025 by Modern Odyssey Books. My next collection will be released in 2027 with Ybernia.
Some of the other publishing credits I’m particularly proud of include Aesthetica Magazine, Motorcycle Sport and Leisure and Prairie Schooner (where I share the page with the magnificent Sharon Olds). My full portfolio of published work can be found here.
As a pen for hire, I bring a master’s in creative writing (with distinction) from the University of Oxford. I also write regular articles in my capacity as Associate Editor of The Madrid Review.

TEACHING AND WORKSHOPS

Let’s trade ideas.
I’ve worked with various groups to create and facilitate writing workshops. Including with Tikram, Madrid’s legendary María Pandora, and latterly with Fusion Arts, delivering sessions for young adults in vulnerable situations, who are interested in creative writing. For the 2026 edition of the Comunidad de Madrid’s World Book Day celebrations, LibroMad, I ran a creative writing workshop on multilingual writers at Madrid’s Parent(h)esis bookshop.
I run regular online workshops, such as the ever-popular “Hit Submit in 3 Hours (And a Bit!)”, designed to get authors writing and submitting to literary magazines all within a three-hour period. Full details of upcoming events and workshops can be found here.

PRICING
I’m very much writer-led and happy to adapt to what each individual writer and manuscript needs or wants. For that reason, it’s hard to give an exact tariff, but I also understand how important it is to have an idea of pricing before considering working with an editor, writer, or workshop leader. In addition, I try to keep all my pricing models as accessible as possible. Below you can find some example pricing.
Editing and Writing:
For smaller word-count projects such as short stories, essays, blogs, or articles, I am happy to work on an hourly rate. My hourly rate is 25€.
Editing:
My editing services mainly centre around developmental editing and copy-editing. A developmental edit, including a detailed editorial letter focusing on big-picture elements such as plot, pace, structure, theme, characterisation, etc., plus supporting margin comments, would be priced in the region of 1,200€, depending on word count.
There is often a lot of crossover between developmental editing and copy-editing, as the big picture should be supported by the detail – and vice versa. A copy edit mainly focuses on line edits for flow and consistency, plus margin comments, though I will also flag any bigger-picture elements where relevant. This would also be priced in the region of 1,200€, depending on word count.
Teaching and Workshops:
To design, prepare and deliver a 1.5-hour workshop, the price is in the region of 150€. If you are an individual looking to attend a workshop that I’m giving, you can find the pricing on the Events and Workshops page.
